Here Are Answers To People's Most Commonly Asked Questions
About Garage Doors

My garage door keeps reversing and won’t close, do I need service?

You may require service, but the first thing to check is the photo eyes. If the light bulbs are flashing when the door reverses, this is an indicator there is a problem with the eyes. If they are obstructed, dirty, or out of alignment, they could be causing the door to reverse. Gently clean the lenses and ensure they are properly aligned. If the issue persists, it may be time to schedule a service call.

Your garage door is the largest moving component of your home. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, we recommend annual maintenance of both the door and the operator. This includes inspecting the springs and hardware for signs of wear, cleaning the door with a mild soap solution—particularly in the spring to remove winter salt residue—and lubricating the track, hinges, and springs with a silicone- or Teflon-based spray.

The lifespan of a garage door depends on several factors, including material quality, frequency of use, and level of maintenance. On average, a standard garage door can last between 15 and 20 years, while a typical garage door opener has a lifespan of 10 to 12 years. Regular annual maintenance can significantly extend the life of both the door and the opener.

Garage door springs are rated based on usage cycles, with one cycle defined as a complete opening and closing of the door. The more frequently the door is used, the sooner the springs will wear out. Most standard springs are rated for approximately 10,000 cycles.

Yes, we do! We carry a wide selection of torsion spring sizes and can replace springs on nearly all brands of garage doors. If your current springs are enclosed within a shaft and not visible, we will convert the system to a traditional torsion spring setup. This conversion includes replacing the shaft, bearings, drums, cables, and springs to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

For quality and warranty purposes, we only install doors and operators that we provide.

Residential garage door repair costs vary based on the nature of the problem. Typically, you can expect a service call to range between $100 and $500.

Most service calls can be completed within an hour to an hour and a half.

At this time, emergency service is available exclusively for our commercial customers. If you contact us after hours, your call will be directed to our answering service. They will record your information and forward it to our team, who will follow up with you on the next business day.

If your garage door springs were installed or last replaced at the same time, we recommend replacing both. Springs are rated by cycles, meaning each spring will have experienced the same amount of wear. Unfortunately, there is no visual indicator to determine when a spring is about to fail, which is why proactive replacement is often the best approach.
